Loving Your Physical Body And Getting Healed

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? ~ 1 Corinthians 6:19 KJV

One of the most important things we can do to receive healing from God – and also walk day to day in divine health – is to love and respect our own bodies. For years I’ve heard (and it’s true, don’t get me wrong) that we must make positive faith confessions regarding our physical bodies if we want to recover from an illness or injury. This is true and shouldn’t be neglected, however, there’s something I believe the Lord showed me that takes the whole positive confession thing into another level.

Maybe you’ve heard of experiments that have been done that test the power of the words we speak. For example, setting out two glasses of water. Then, speaking curses over one, while speaking praises and blessings over the other, and continuing to do this day after day. After a week or so, the “cursed” water was disgusting while the “blessed” water was clean. The same experiment has been done with rice, plants, etcetera and all end up with the same outcome: the cursed item ended up in decay while the blessed item was indeed “blessed”. There’s so much power in the words we speak, and yet how careless and ignorant we’ve been in how we talk to and about others, even about ourselves.

Seriously, this NEEDS to change!

A revelation I had that was a real game changer in my own life was when I began speaking to my body and telling it how blessed and healthy and DISEASE-FREE it is. I was given a death sentence by the Enemy, and doctors told me I was dying of stage 4 cancer. I was labeled terminally ill, as a mom of two young children, and it was a grim and scary diagnoses, though God had my back the entire time. It wasn’t easy, but the more I learned how healing works and kept the faith in the midst of the storm, God totally set me free from every trace of cancer in my body.

I want the same thing for YOU.

For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: ~ Ephesians 5:29 KJV

The first thing I want you to realize is that your body is a gift from God. It’s the only body you have, and it’s worth far more than you know. You should have a wonderful relationship with your body. Yes, I said relationship. Care about your body and take care of it as if you were taking care of it for GOD ALMIGHTY. After all, if you’re a born-again Christian, your body actually is the temple of the Holy Spirit and God is dwelling inside of you.

Try this:

Stop what you’re doing and look at your legs, for example. Touch your knees and tell your knees how thankful you are for them. Look at your hands and tell them what a blessing they are to you, with all they’ve done for you throughout your lifetime. Look at your feet and thank them for all they’ve done. Tell the various parts of your body what you want them to be. You want a strong and healthy body, right? Tell your body that. Put your hands on your stomach and say, “Stomach, you are healthy. You are strong. You are blessed. There’s no sickness in you whatsoever.” Talk to your entire body and tell it how blessed and thankful you are to have it: it’s a true gift from God to you and is an awesome blessing. Tell your body that it’s healthy, whole and strong. Tell your body that no disease of any kind can exist in it. When you do this and make it a regular habit, the very cells inside your body hear you and actually become those positive things you’re speaking over yourself. This is a powerful key to unlocking a life of divine health.

That being said….

In order to truly live the life that God has for you, it’s imperative that you walk according to God’s Word and not live a selfish life. Love and take care of your body, say right things to it, but absolutely never make your body into an idol, putting it before God. Your relationship with God should be number one priority in your life. Study the Holy Bible, keep with a lifestyle of prayer, praise and worship, and obey the scriptures. All of these things work together.

22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. 23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! ~ Matthew 6:22-23 KJV

Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. ~ Romans 6:12 KJV
